AUSTIN, Texas – Credit union members of the Credit Union Information Security Professionals Association (www.cuispa.org) now can take advantage of a service that, for one year, provides free e-mail alerts about security vulnerabilities that could affect them. The Austin-based CUISPA will host a server that includes the Xacta Vulnerability Awareness System from Virginia-based Xacta Corp. CUISPA members who register their own software on the system will receive e-mails when relevant vulnerabilities show up on the industry-standard SANS Top 20 Internet security vulnerabilities list. The company, a division of Telos Corp. (www.telos.com), says the free year of service also is intended to expose credit unions to its range of IT security offerings. Formed last fall, the CUISPA now has about 200 credit union members, 17 chapters around the country, about 15 affiliate vendor members and is working on its next big initiative – security vendor certification that would be acceptable to regulators and trade groups such as NCUA and CUNA.
