MADISON, Wis. – The CUNA Lending Council is accepting applications for its scholarship program designed to improve education, skills and opportunities for employees of credit unions with financial need. Scholarships are awarded for up to $2,000 and can be used towards expenses for CUNA Lending Council conference registration, CUNA Center for professional Development (CPD) school tuition, or additional coursework not offered through the CPD program. Only coursework in lending-related subjects are considered applicable for the scholarship program. A committee led by CUNA Lending Council Chairman Joe Brancucci, vp of lending and chief lending officer of Boeing Employees' CU and president of Prime Alliance Solutions, will decide the scholarship winners. Selection is based on asset size, skill needs, and financial needs. To be eligible for the scholarships, applications must meet the following four requirements: CUs up to $50 million in assets are eligible; one scholarship will be awarded per credit union each year; the credit union must demonstrate a financial need; and full time employees and volunteers from troubled CUs are eligible. Entries for the scholarship must be postmarked at least 45 days before the starting date of the conference or school applicants want to attend. Scholarship winners will be notified no later than 30 days prior to the starting date of the conference or school. Applications are available online at www.cunalendingcouncil.org by clicking on the "scholarships" link located on the "awards" pull down menu.
