WASHINGTON – CUNA's GAC could have been on the verge of cancellation if a major snow storm to hit the Northeast had come a week later. A winter storm pummeled the nation's capital for three days leaving as much as 30 inches of snow in some places. While NAFCU and NCUA were scheduled to be closed on President's Day (Feb. 17) anyway, CUNA was planning to work, but of course that didn't happen. In fact the federal government was even shut down on Feb. 18, as was CUNA and NAFCU though a few brave souls made it into the office. A state of emergency was called in many Northeastern states. Look for some sore backs around the conference as those who were in the Northeast may still be suffering from some heavy shoveling sessions.
