<p>OMAHA, Neb. – Metro Health Services Federal Credit Union here considers itself lucky to have University of Nebraska football star Eric Crouch as one of its members. As it turned out, Crouch won the coveted 2001 Heisman Trophy last December as the top college player, and so the CU asked the 6'1, 200 lb. quarterback if he would mind signing autographs. "He was very nice about it and was glad to do it since both he, his mother and a brother are long time members," said Randy Koch, marketing director. Crouch spent two hours doing the signing in Metro's Maple Street branch on March 9. "We had expected 1,400 for the event but we had a terrific ice storm the night before and so we ended up with 400," said Koch. Crouch is the third Cornhusker to win the Heisman Trophy honoring the most outstanding college football player. He received the honor at ceremonies in New York on Dec. 10. The Omaha resident, who has been a member of the $100 million CU for 10 years, was picked by the media for the honor which recognized his having completed 105 of 189 passes for 1,510 yards and seven touchdowns. He won the NCAA Division I-A quarterback record with 59 career rushing touchdowns. He averaged 92 yards per game, 5.5 yards per play and scored 18 touchdowns which ranks fifth among all rushers of the season.
