A website resembling the NCUA's official website is attempting to convince consumers to provide personal information, according to the NCUA.
|The agency said on Tuesday it has received reports of the copycat site, which is designed to trick consumers into transferring large amounts of money. The emails promoting the website also attempt to persuade individuals to provide personal information, such as Social Security numbers, account numbers and login information.
|The NCUA warned consumers not to use the website, stressing that agency would not request personal or financial information via e-mail. Consumers who have received emails from the fake website should call the NCUA's Fraud Hotline at 800-827-9650 or 703-518-6550 in the Washington area.
