The $975 million Dupaco Community Credit Union of Dubuque, Iowa, has formallypromoted Joseph F. Hearn to president/CEO succeeding Robert W.Hoefer, who last October announced his retirement after 47 years ofservice.

As part of the management changes, Matthew J. Dodds, senior vicepresident of consumer lending, was moved up to chief operatingofficer.

Hearn joined the credit union as director of marketing in 1986.He is currently serving his second term as chairman of the IowaCredit Union League and is a member of CUNA's State Credit UnionSubcommittee.

He is also a director of Affiliates Management Company, a leaguesubsidiary which oversees operations of major units in the tradegroup.

Hearn, a member of the CreditUnion Executives Society, is a graduate of the Johnson GraduateSchool of Management at Cornell University and the Wharton Schoolin Philadelphia. He holds a masters degree from University ofDubuque and a magna cum laude graduate of Loras College.

Dodds joined Dupaco in 2003, with nine years of consumer lendingexperience in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Denver.

In a separate action honoring the retiring Hoefer, the CU saidat its annual meeting Feb. 12 it has formed the R.W. HoeferFoundation dedicated to “improving people's financial position andenhancing their quality of life.” The foundation will providefinancial assistance and coaching to CU members who are financiallyprudent and who may be recovering from unforeseen life events.
