Credit unions now have to give the NCUA additional informationabout the ethnic makeup of its staff, membership and potentialmembers, to comply with the Dodd-Frank financial overhaul law.

All Call Reports, starting with the one being filed later thismonth for the fourth quarter of 2011, require answers to thefollowing questions:

  • “Does your credit union have more than 50% of its currentmembers and management officials who are Black American, NativeAmerican, Hispanic American, or Asian American? If yes, pleaseidentify the minority groups(s) that apply.''
  • “Does your credit union have more than 50% of its eligiblepotential members and management officials who are Black American,Native American, Hispanic American, or Asian American? If yes,please identify the minority group(s) that apply.''

The agency told credit unions that conditions in each questionmust be true if a credit union is to answer affirmatively to thequestion of whether they are a minority credit union.
