Credit unions' efforts to educate and work with youth were among the items mentioned in a resolution passed by the House yesterday honoring Financial Literacy Month.
The resolution notes that "staff from America's credit unions will focus on the financial needs of young people, provide financial literacy education, and teach youth under the age of 18 the benefits of saving and goal setting during `National Credit Union Youth Week', April 18-24, 2010."
The measure, which was passed by 397-4, was sponsored by Rep. Ruben Hinojosa (D-Texas). It had both Democratic and Republican co-sponsors.
