WASHINGTON — Federal Housing Finance Board member Geoff Bacinohas resigned his position to start a lobbying firm that willpartner with the firm run by the son of Democratic VicePresidential nominee Joseph Biden.

Bacino, who also served as an NCUA Board member for one year andhas represented credit unions in Washington, D.C., is going tostart Bacino and Associates, which will be located in and partnerwith the law firm of Oldaker, Biden and Belair. R. Hunter Biden,the firm's founding partner is a son of Joseph Biden, who has beena U.S. Senator from Delaware since 1973 and was selected as Sen.Barack Obama's running mate in August. Bacino's assistant andpolicy adviser Jonathan Lindley will join him in his new firm.

“I have enjoyed my federal service as a Board Member andregulator of the Federal Home Loan Bank System. Under theleadership of Chairman Ronald Rosenfeld, the Federal HousingFinance Board was well on the road to becoming a 'world class'federal banking regulator. I will miss the many friends that I hadmade both in the public and private sector while serving in thispost and hope that our paths will cross again,” Bacino said in astatement.

He was appointed to the board by President Bush in 2006 and hisresignation takes effect on Sunday.
