WASHINGTON — NAFCU will highlight its accomplishments and those of the credit union industry when it dedicates a room at America's Credit Museum in Manchester, N.H. on Wednesday.

The event will kick off NAFCU's celebration of the 100th anniversary of the credit union movement in America. It will feature remarks by NAFCU officials, New Hampshire Banking Commissioner Peter C. Hildreth and Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, Daryl Cady, CFO of St. Mary's Bank Credit Union and Gordon Simmons, president and CEO of Service Credit Union.

The first credit union, the St. Mary's Bank Credit Union, was formed on Nov. 24, 1908 by Canadian immigrants in Manchester, N.H. Many of the customers worked in the local textile mills and had used credit unions in Canada since the first one was formed there in 1901.America's Credit Union Museum is housed in the former offices of the St. Mary's Bank Credit Union.
