MADISON, Wis. — The National Credit Union Foundation has namedRobert Hoel, Harriet May and the State Employees Credit UnionFoundation in North Carolina as winners of the 20th Annual HerbWegner Memorial Awards.

An announcement of the awards praised Hoel, now residing inMiddleton, Wis., as recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award forhis body of research in financial institutions, marketing strategy,and consumer analysis. During his tenure as executive director ofthe Filene Research Institute in Madison, Wis., Hoel orchestratedthe accumulation of research that has transformed into realbenefits for credit unions and consumers, the Foundation said.

Harriet May, president and CEO of Government Employees CreditUnion (GECU) of El Paso, Texas, will receive the IndividualAchievement Award in recognition of her heartfelt commitment andproactive approach toward the American Dream of home ownership forresidents of her border city.

The State Employees Credit Union Foundation in Raleigh, N.C.will receive the Outstanding Organization Award for quicklybecoming one of the most successful private credit unionfoundations in America, the Foundation said.
