ARLINGTON, Va.-A number of key members of Congress will addressNAFCU's Congressional Caucus next month. Senate Banking CommitteeMember Tom Carper (D-Del.), who was instrumental in herdingbankruptcy reform through the legislative process in the Senate,and House Financial Services Committee Member Artur Davis (D-Ala.)were the latest added to the speaker lineup. NAFCU plans on morethan 400 credit union representatives in town for the event. Thesetwo lawmakers join fellow Financial Services Committee MembersSpencer Bachus (R-Ala.), author of the Net Worth Amendment forCredit Unions Act (H.R. 1042), and Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.),co-author of the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R.2317), and Ranking Committee Member Barney Frank (D-Mass.).Treasury Secretary John Snow is also speaking, as well as NCUAChairman JoAnn Johnson and Board Member Debbie Matz. “We've gottenlots of calls from Senate and Hill staffers asking us what's goingon in September because they're getting calls from all their creditunion people who are trying to set up meetings and we know ourmembers are active and they're taking their job seriously in comingto Caucus,” NAFCU Director of Political Affairs Murray Chanowsaid.
