MADISON, Wis. – At press time, it appeared that the year-plus labor dispute at CUNA Mutual Group was set to end. According to both CUNA Mutual and the union, Office of Professional Employees International Union Local 39, a tentative deal has been reached. The final step was for the approximately 1,400 unionized CUNA Mutual employees to vote on the contract. A simple majority is needed for ratification. The vote was scheduled to take place on the evening of June 16 at a local high school. OPEIU Local 39 Business Manager John Peterson said the union recommended approval of this contract – the first time the union has done so since this dispute started.
