ALEXANDRIA, Va.-Prohibition orders came out of NCUA recentlybarring three individuals from the operations of federally insuredinstitutions. Jason Christopher Nunez, a former employee withCredit Union of Southern California, pled “no contest” to one countof grand theft and was sentenced, by the Criminal Court of LosAngeles County, to three years formal probation and ordered to payrestitution to the credit union of $49,884. Also, former PhenixPride Federal Credit Union (Phenix City, Ala.) Manager Bessie JoPeoples was convicted of theft and sentenced to six months inprison, five years supervised probation, and ordered to pay$205,434 in restitution. Finally, Sarah Lockwood, a former loanofficer with BNSF Credit Union in Amarillo, Texas, consented to aprohibition order, without admitting or denying fault, to avoid thetime and expense of litigation. It is a felony to violate aprohibition order and is punishable by imprisonment and a fine ofup to $1 million.
