Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, has brought a little comfort to the young clients of the Alamo Children's Advocacy Center (ACAC). SSFCU employees donated toys and games to include in the Center's comfort kits. The kits are used to provide comfort to children traumatized by sexual abuse and their families during their visits to the ACAC. Travis Credit Union, Vacaville, Calif employees donated toys for 320 children registered in the Christmas Wish Program this year. Their generous giving ensures that less fortunate children are granted the one wish that they have made for Christmas. Travis CU has been the number one corporate sponsor for the past four years. AltaOne Federal Credit Union, Ridgecrest, Calif., has donated 18 cellular telephones and five beepers to the Women's Shelter network a project of the Women's Center-High Desert, a United Way Agency. The cell phones and beepers are provided to victims of domestic violence to use in emergency situations. Other phones are recycled and the money is put into the shelter fund to purchase necessary items not covered by other grants. In addition, AltaOne FCU staffers have donated various personal and household items to the Women's Shelter. Antioch Schools Federal Credit Union, Calif., has helped make the holidays brighter for hundreds of local children with its most successful toy drive to date. The donations went to local organizations, Grannies Anonymous and the Marines' Toys for Tots. SSA Baltimore Federal Credit Union, Woodlawn, Md., has sponsored the 9th annual WNCEO golf tournament. The event raised more than $1,300, which will go directly to assist families in need with reservists stationed in war zones during the Holiday season. This year, with the war in Iraq, the focus of the event turned more somber and donations were asked for from the over 60 golfers to help support the 1176th/1398th Army Reserve Family Readiness Support Center. Schools Financial Credit Union, Sacramento, Calif., has donated $500 to the Bobby Jackson Foundation to help in the fight against breast cancer. Schools Financial CU contributed $1 for every student account opened during its annual Student Promotion, and the rest was made up of member and employee contributions. The Bobby Jackson Foundation is a community-based organization dedicated to helping eradicate breast cancer.
