LUTZ, Fla. – The GTE Federal Credit Union (GTE FCU) Charitable Foundation's 1st Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament at the Cheval Golf & Country Club has raised $59,000 for local charities. Accommodating 120 players, the event was an overwhelming success for all those involved. Tournament participants enjoyed a day filled with door prizes, 50/50 drawings, challenging greens, and an elegant dinner followed by an award ceremony. The event was made possible through headline sponsor Allied Solutions and other credit union business partners and friends. "A number of local supporters made this event a success, and for that, we are truly appreciative. It's the collective efforts of our community that will make this affair a fundraising success for years to come," said GTE FCU President/CEO Bucky Sebastian. Woody Austin, a former GTE FCU employee who is on the PGA Tour and was Rookie of the Year in 1995, not only became a major sponsor, but also played in the tournament with Sebastian as his teammate. Austin's team won the event. Since its inception in 2003, the GTE FCU Charitable Foundation has donated more than $122,000 to local non-profit organizations such as the United Way, SERVE, Florida Prepaid Tuition, Big Brothers Big Sister, and Tampa Bay Academy of Hope.
