BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Credit Union Association of Oregon is hailing as a success the first luncheon it hosted with three other Oregon cooperatives for legislators in celebration of National Cooperative Month. October was National Cooperative Month and more than 20 legislators attended a luncheon on Oct. 28 that CUAO hosted along with the Agricultural Cooperative Council of Oregon (ACCO), the Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and the Oregon Telecommunications Association. The theme of the lunch which the cooperatives said was intended to start a new tradition as a way to help spread the cooperative spirit, was "Owned by our members, Committed to our communities." CUAO SVP of Governmental Affairs & Public Relations Pam Leavitt called the cooperative lunch "a huge success. It gave us the opportunity to show legislators just how important cooperatives are in communities throughout Oregon. We look forward to hosting future events for National Cooperative Month."
