Louisiana Credit Union League, Harahan, has announced that four Louisiana credit union professionals were recently awarded the prestigious Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designation. Kathi Gill of Neighbors FCU, Mary M. Sciretti of Eagle Louisiana FCU, Gregory Dale Inman of CUNA Mutual Insurance Society and Chris Chelette of Rapides School Employees FCU, were presented with plaques and lapel pins commemorating their accomplishments. Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union, Lockport, N.Y., has awarded Amy Willard a $1,000 gift certificate to Stedman Old Farm Nurseries. The gift certificate was part of a grand prize drawing during Cornerstone's spring loan sale and membership drive. Stedman Old Farm Nurseries was founded by Emory Stedman in 1920, when he drove his Model T truck to Western New York in search of fertile ground for planting. Since that time, Stedman's has grown to become one of New York State's most reputable nurseries, with 300 acres of nursery farms, three retail garden centers and a landscape division. Spokane Federal Credit Union, Wash., has named Member Service Specialist Amy Crum Employee of the Quarter. Crum was recognized for her positive attitude and consistent dedication to exceeding member and peer expectations. Motorola Employees Credit Union, Shaumburg, Ill., has been awarded the 2003 Motorola CEO Award for Volunteerism in recognition of its volunteer efforts with the Children's Miracle Network. MECU has raised and donated over $151,500 to CMN since 1996, and over $18,000 in 2003 alone. The awards are judged based on achievement, impact, challenges, and ongoing involvement, and MECU was one of 11 winners selected from a pool of 70 individual and team applicants. NechesHuntsman Federal Credit Union, Port Neches, Texas, has been voted the number one credit union in Southeast Texas. This award is sponsored by the Port Arthur News and voted on by local readers in Southeast Texas annually. Currently, NechesHuntsman FCU has three locations land serves more than 18,000 members. Central Virginia Federal Credit Union, Lynchburg, and the Virginia Credit Union League have honored Collin Conrad with the Outstanding Achievement in Financial Literacy Award. The recognition includes a $200 share account and finance related prizes. Over 7,000 entries were received in the national InvestWrite essay contest sponsored by the Foundation for Investor Education. Conrad won the national contest for his essay on factors that would affect McDonald's stock price. Insight Financial Credit Union, Maitland, Fla., has been honored by NewGround Resources as its "Project of the Year". The award was presented for the completion of the Maitland branch and administrative center. NewGround executives visited Insight Financial CU's headquarters building and presented a plaque to recognize this achievement. The 37,000 square-foot headquarters includes a state-of-the-art branch with a full-service drive-up. Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, has recently honored Senior Account Officer Shirley Arnold for her dedication and service to the credit union. Acknowledged for 30 years of service to SSFCU, Arnold was presented with a plaque and will receive an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii for her and her husband. Each month SSFCU recognizes employees for their length of service with the credit union.
