SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Star One CU earned an A-plus rating in Consumer Federation of California's first Financial Privacy Survey Report. Conducted from September-November 2003, the survey collected information from 55 financial institutions in the state to determine what privacy protection large financial institutions voluntarily offered their members and customers, beyond the minimal requirements of federal law. The financials selected were the largest in their industry sector. Star One was one of five CUs surveyed with the largest assets. Each financial institution was assigned a letter grade evaluating their privacy practices and the level of control consumers have over their own financial information. Grades ranged from A-plus to F. Of the 55 financials surveyed, only eight scored an A or above, and Star One was one of only two that received an A-plus. Star One serves more than 65,000 members and has around $2.6 billion in assets.
