ARLINGTON, Va. – Credit unions in Maine will now pay a little less for their members ATM transactions because Synergent, the League's wholly-owned subsidiary ATM network, was able to negotiate a more favorable interchange rate with EDS, the company's transaction processor. "Synergent had the volume to make a better deal," said Jon Paradise, director of communications for the Maine Credit Union League. Paradise confirmed that the network had reached two million transactions per month through its 102 participating ATMs. Synergent is a fee-free network with 102 machines, Paradise said. Synergent's current two million transactions per month is up from its 1.75 million in 2001 and 1.5 million in 2000.
