<p>Greater Nevada Credit Union, Carson City, has awarded $10,000 in scholarships. The 10 scholarship awards of $1,000 each will be paid directly to the recipients' school of choice in the fall of 2002. The scholarship is based on the applicant's financial needs, academic performance, community involvement, and educational/career goals. This year's winners are as follows: Alisshia Allen; Stephanie Clark-Bernett; Ashley Conroy; Joette Eldridge; Ben Harris; Adam McNutt; and Marisa Ochoa. St. Anne's Credit Union, Fall River, Mass., has awarded $1,000 scholarships to 10 local high school students. The scholarship award program began in 1991 and winners are selected based on several factors including academic achievement and community service. The 2002 award recipients are as follows: Brendan Sullivan; Joshua Sadeck; Susan Berube; Nicholas Emard; Daniel Gamache; Ryan Ziccardi; Benjamin Blanchard; Nicole Robitaille; Catherine Geddes; and Margaret Lero. Mon-Oc Federal Credit Union, Toms River, N.J., has named Michelle Malejki, Kevin Joyce, Susan Craig, and Joshua Weigand the winners of its 2002 Emma Dorrer Literary Award scholarships. "What would be your action plan to educate your community to safeguard the environment?" was the question asked of applicants. Certificates of achievement and awards of $1,000 were presented to each recipient. Financial Center Credit Union, Stockton, Calif., has recognized three area high school seniors for their outstanding scholarship, character and contribution to their communities. David Anthony Garcia was awarded a scholarship totaling $1,000; Kendra Michiko Kohman and Tara Lynete Cuslidge have each been awarded $500. Silver State Schools Credit Union, Las Vegas, has named high school seniors Deanna Appuglise and Megan Hafen winners of its scholarships. The Arlene Parkinson Scholarship was awarded to Appuglise and Hafen won the Bart Roche Scholarship. Each scholarship awards $1,000 annually renewable for up to four years and is awarded to students who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, and community service. Virginia Beach Schools Federal Credit Union, Va., has announced the winners of the 2002 Joann B. Wyatt Memorial Scholarship. Recipients will receive $1,000 each to help fund their continuing education. Congratulations go to Robert A. Cornwell and Victoria Bahr. First Atlantic Federal Credit Union, has presented the Michael J. O'Keefe scholarship in the amount of $2,500 to Timothy Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick plans to attend Virginia Tech and has graduated in the top 10% of his class.</p>
