SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The state of California has mandated that credit scores be disclosed to applicants effective with new credit report requests made on or after July 1, 2001. The disclosure explains consumer rights in regard to credit scores. It gives general information about scores including agency contact information. The disclosure requirements apply to every application or prequalification where the subject property is located in California, or the applicant has a current California mailing address and a credit score is used in the credit decision process.
