Then check out this list of 10 states that a Gallup-Healthways study has determined have the highest well-being index scores in the country.

The study, the "State of American Well-Being: 2016 State Well-Being Rankings," found that not only certain states but certain regions of the country tend to do better or worse than others. In general, some Atlantic states, as well as the northern plains and mountain west, offer a better chance of doing well, but the champions this year were the two noncontiguous states: Hawaii and Alaska.
