The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries has named David Lipkin as its new president and has appointed well-known retirement industry guru Robert Kaplan to its board of directors.

Lipkin and Kaplan were inaugurated into their new positions at the 2013 ASPPA Annual Conference in National Harbor, Md.

Lipkin is best known for founding Metro Benefits, but he has had a long career in the industry. After receiving a B.A. in mathematics from Hamilton College, he began his career with Aetna Life and Casualty. In 1983, he moved to William M. Mercer in Pittsburgh, where he served on the actuarial committee and acted as senior actuary and consultant to a variety of clients, including some Fortune 500 companies.
