CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Initial claims for Nevada unemployment benefits fell in April compared with the same month last year, continuing a 29-month trend.
The Nevada Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation reports Thursday there were 18,327 initial claims filed last month. That compares with 19,553 filed in April 2011.
Initial claims peaked at 36,414 at the height of the recession in December 2008.
State economist Bill Anderson says while the number of initial claims continue to fall, the pace of declines has slowed, suggesting Nevada's unemployment activity may be stabilizing.
