Weight still weighs heavily on the minds of Americans, a newpoll finds.

According to data from ComPsych Corp., 43 percent of employeessay weight loss is their top health concern this year, a 10 percentincrease over 2011. An additional 20 percent of employees sayexercise is their main health issue. Rolling out the top fivehealth concerns were stress (18 percent), diet improvement (10percent), and quitting smoking (5 percent).

More and more employers are focusing on wellness initiatives. Areport from the American Council on Exercise late last year foundthat there's an “encouraging shift in the public's understanding ofthe gravity of the nation's obesity epidemic” as well as a growingtrend to marry traditional fitness programs with overall lifecoaching for improved total health. Part of that trend is havingemployers place a focus on obesity awareness.
