Heart and vascular conditions account for more than half of allclaims paid on Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Co.’scritical illness insurance policies. According to Colonial Lifeclaims statistics, heart attacks, stroke and coronary artery bypasssurgery together made up 58 percent of critical illness claims in2010. Cancer accounted for another 35 percent. Other conditions,including kidney failure and transplants, were responsible for theremaining claims.
