Help Wanted: International Insurance Regulator

IAIS jobThe International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) is looking for a deputy secretary general.

The IAIS, Basel, Switzerland, is a group for insurance regulators from around the world. It was established in 1994 and now represents insurance regulators and supervisors from about 140 countries.

The deputy secretary general would help the IAIS secretary general run the IAIS staff and would help with matters such as financial management of the IAIS, IAIS compliance efforts, and overseeing the IAIS communications strategy.

Job requirements include a college degree and fluency in English. Skills in French, Spanish or both languages is desirable.

“Full tolerance of cultural differences is essential, together with high ethical standards,” the IAIS says. “Commitment to work in Basel, ability to sustain extensive travelling and willingness to exercise the position for a sufficient period of time, are imperative.”

The deputy secretary general will get a 3-year contract and be paid a salary free of Swiss income tax.

Applications are due Jan. 10, 2011.
