Bear Stearns Broker-Dealer and Investment Advisor Services (BDIAS) is wooing investment advisors and broker/dealers by beefing up the mutual fund selection and fund research tools available through its mutual fund platform, according to a June 18 announcement from the firm.

Now BDIAS will have 10,000-plus mutual funds available to advisors who use its platform, and of those, 5,600 are load-waived or no-load funds, with 3.400 of those available through the firm’s no transaction fee program, FundCircuit. Adding to the fund research tools BDIAS already has, FundTools, “powered by Morningstar,” advisors will also be able to use FundPoint Desktop research from NewRiver, which offers Web-based tools to analyze share classes, and breakpoint and prospectus information.

BDIAS Co-head Joe Triarsi stated in the announcement that “these enhancements elevate the Bear Stearns platform to a position among the leading fund supermarkets in the industry.”
