NU Online News Service, May 27, 2003, 10:45 a.m. EDT – UnumProvident Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn., says it is expanding a program that helps employers comply with the federal Family and Medical Leave Act and related state leave laws.

The leave-management program will now be available to employers with as few as 2,000 employees, UnumProvident says.

In the past, UnumProvident has offered the program only to employers with more than 5,000 employees.

FMLA requires most large employers to provide 12 weeks of unpaid leave during a 12-month period for employees who have given birth, adopted children, or need time to handle their own health problems or relatives’ health problems.

The UnumProvident leave-management program processes leave requests, manages leaves and helps employers track all unpaid leaves.
