NU Online News Service, Oct. 21, 11:10 a.m. – The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa., has introduced an online learning program for the five required courses in the college’s certified financial planner certification curriculum.

“These new online courses provide our students with a financial services education using state-of-the-art delivery methods,” says Samuel H. Weese, president and chief executive officer of the American College, in a press release announcing the new program.

The courses are broken down into 30- to 60-minute modules.

The new online modules have a pre-exam that students take before beginning a course. This enables students to tailor their learning based on existing knowledge and experience, the college says.

The course includes an electronic bulletin board where students may discuss course topics with each other.

American College officials add that students pursuing their chartered life underwriter or chartered financial consultant designation will also benefit from these online courses. All five courses are requirements of the ChFC program, and two are required of the CLU program.

The American College says it expects to offer 15 to 20 courses online within the next few years.
