NEW YORK CITY—Industry veteran Mark Weiss has joined Cushman & Wakefield‘s office brokerage group here as executive vice chairman. Formerly a vice chairman at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, he has more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate.

“Any time you have the opportunity to bring over the caliber of talent and experience of someone like Mark, you jump at it,” says Ron Lo Russo, president, New York tri-state region. “He is an industry veteran with an exceptional background of going the extra mile for his clients, and his skills and expertise complement our bench of professionals.”

In his career, Weiss has completed more than 1,800 transactions comprising a broad range of sizes, scope and innovation and twice won the Real Estate Board of New York‘s Most Ingenious Deal of the Year award.

While in the tenant representative practice at NGKF, Weiss represented, among others, the following clients: Cleary Gottlieb; the Blackstone Group; Osler; SEIU 32-BJ, Fitzpatrick Cella Harper & Scinto; Catholic Charities; Duane Morris; Kasowitz Benson; AppNexus; Hughes Hubbard & Reed; Mintz, Levin; Publishers Clearinghouse; Jackson Lewis; Cornell University; Columbia University, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; Mount Sinai Medical Center; Corning Inc.; Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Co.; Ropes & Gray and the Children’s Aid Society.

Last year he led teams that closed two noteworthy land assemblages for healthcare institutions in New York City; securing most of a city block at 73rd Street and the FDR Drive for a new campus for Sloan Kettering and Hunter College, as well as a full city block in Harlem for a proton beam research and therapy center to treat pediatric cancers. The new facility will be jointly owned by Memorial Sloan Kettering, Montefiore Hospital, Mount Sinai and ProHealth Medical Management.

Prior to joining Newmark, Weiss was with Studley, where he served as EVP for 10 years. “I am delighted to be part of Cushman & Wakefield and hope I can contribute in a meaningful way towards leadership’s vision of creating the strongest commercial real estate brokerage and advisory firm in the world,” he says.
