Auto Truck Group Moves into 103,000 SF

BARTLETT, IL-Auto Truck Group has moved into its new 103,000-square-foot industrial facility. The work truck up-fitting company has relocated from two buildings in Bensenville to the new facility it built at 1420 Brewster Creek Blvd. Development of the 16-acre property was two years in the making for the firm, which has been based in the area for three decades.

“When we moved from Chicago to Bensenville in 1979, we didn’t think we would ever run out of space,” Dave Westen, VP of operations for Auto Truck, says. “Soon we added an addition, then another, and then added more land and another building. Thirty years later we have another exciting expansion opportunity at a new site. This time, though, we are fully expecting to grow into it quickly.”

The building’s installation department offers Auto Truck an increase in bays from its previous facility, a change which will reduce lead times for employees. The company also has a 5,000 square foot retail and service center built into its new headquarters. Auto Truck’s facility also offers increased functionality on account of its open floor plan, which permits projects to be staged in an assembly line.

“This is a huge improvement over the Bensenville facility where the fabrication department and paint shop were in two separate buildings,” Westen says. “It added hours to the job and exposed the bodies to inclement weather.”
