MC Cos. Acquires 7,000 Units

SCOTTSDALE, AZ-In its move to deepen its Texas footprint, locally based MC Cos. has acquired the 7,000-unit management portfolio from Arlington, TX-based Encore Management Co., which will operate under the name MC Residential of Texas LLC. Encore Management’s staff will remain in place, while MC continues seeking more assets in the Lone Star State.

Ross McCallister, MC Cos.’ co-principal and partner said in a release that Encore Management’s reputation in management was what sold him and partner Ken McElroy on the acquisition. “Jackie Jackson and her staff at Encore built a strong reputation for high-quality, professional multi-family property management in Texas,” McCallister said in the release.

McCallister was unavailable for comment by deadline. Jackson was traveling and could not be reached.

The release said MC Cos.’ management team will focus on a smooth transition for Encore employees during the next few months. More hires will be part of the mix as well. When the dust settles, MC Residential of Texas will employ more than 200 people, the release noted.
