Drug Screening Firm Moves Headquarters

RIVERSIDE, CA-A-Check America, a specialist in background checks and drug screening for employers, plans to relocate its headquarters to 30,000 sf of office space in University Research Park. The company expects to move more than 100 employees to the site in the fall, when it is scheduled to move from Ontario in a five-year lease-to-purcahse deal.

The new A-Check facility is a 12,000-sf building that is under construction at the 56-acre University Research Park. A-Check VP Carlos Lacambra says the company chose the new site because of the strong technology base at the project and the incentives offered by the City of Riverside.

The city provides low-cost electrical power through its municipal utility and is assisting with A-Check’s work force recruitment and development. Lacambra says that A-Check also chose the new location for a variety of other factors, including the proximity of the University of California at Riverside and rental rates below those at comparable facilities in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

In addition to performing background and drug checks, A-Check America develops software designed to obtain, store and report information. The new facility in Riverside will serve as a center for research and development for A-Check in addition to serving as its headquarters.

With the move, A-Check will hiring and/or relocate approximately 20 software engineers to Riverside. The remainder of the company’s work force includes positions ranging from administrative assistants to senior-level executives.

The University Research Park development was established by a partnership between the City of Riverside, the County of Riverside and the University of California at Riverside. The campus was designed for research, development and technology-based businesses.
