SYOSSET, NY-Nordstrom will anchor Taubman Center’s Mall at Oyster Bay, which is planned for a 39-acre site here. The retailer will replace the previously announced Lord & Taylor and join Neiman Marcus as an anchor. The 860,000-sf mall is targeted to open in fall 2007, according to Taubman.

As previously reported by GlobeSt.com, the New York appellate court sent the Bloomfield Hills, MI-based developer’s proposal for the mall back to a town board that has fought the development in the past. The move follows years of litigation during which time Taubman has tried to obtain a building permit to construct the center. The demolition of a former wire factory on the site has been completed, officials say adding that the developer is working with the community to resolve all issues remaining prior to special use permit approval and the issuance of building permits.

Erik Nordstrom, executive vice president of Full-Line Stores for Nordstrom, says the retailer wanted to expand its presence in the northeast and specifically on Long Island. Nordstrom has 154 US stores in 27 states.
