Troon Country Club Facelift Under Way

SCOTTSDALE, AZ-Troon Country Club is undergoing a multi-million-dollar facelift of its 7,000-sf clubhouse plus getting a two-story, 2,300-sf addition to the single-story fitness center, all scheduled for completion before the snowbirds arrive.

Clay Wells, business development manager for the Weitz Co.’s Southwest Division, which is handling the renovations, tells GlobeSt.com that the project will change both the look and the feel of the 25000 N. Windy Walk Dr. country club. “It was showing its age and I think the members were ready for a touch-up,” Wells says, noting the upgrades will focus on the facility’s dining rooms and pro shop.

The 7,000-sf remodeling job will bring major changes to the clubhouse’s Men’s Grill, which will be totally revamped to relocate the bar, remove the fireplace and upgrade the interior with new lighting fixtures, flooring, windows and doors. The Quail’s Nest, a private dining area, and the facility’s main dining room also will undergo renovation. A 2,300-sf addition to the clubhouse’s single-story fitness facility will include an attached two-story masonry and concrete area with a wall of windows on the east, overlooking Troon Mountain.

“This is one of the premier and most well-known country clubs and golf courses in Arizona,” notes Larry Mohr, Weitz’s Southwest Division president. “We are proud to be associated with the project.

Currently under construction, the renovation and rebuilding project will be completed in phases, Wells says, with the first phase to be finished by next month. The full renovation is slated to be done by December before the start of the winter tourist season.
