WTC Proposals Ready for Inspection

The second batch of World Trade Center design proposals is being unveiled this morning and early reports from the Financial Center’s Winter Garden include floating gardens and mega-towers that would stand even taller than the 110-story buildings that were destroyed in the Sept. 11 attacks.

Seven design teams are presenting their visions for the redevelopment of Lower Manhattan at today’s three-hour unveiling. GlobeSt.com will publish a full report of the day’s events following the proceedings.

Today’s presentation marks the Lower Manhattan Development Corp.’s second attempt to come up with a plan for the area. Six earlier land-use proposals were skewered by the public and received a thumbs-down from critics around the globe.
