Giant Opens New 61,600-SF Market

BETHESDA, MD-Today, Landover, MD-headquartered supermarket chain Giant Food Inc. has opened the doors of a new 61,600-sf grocery store at 7142 Arlington Rd. The new full-service market and pharmacy is a replacement for the Giant Food store that had sat directly across the street for the last 37 years. Grand opening festivities are planned throughout the day.

“The new store will offer shoppers the very latest trends in merchandising and customer services,” Giant president and CEO Dick Baird says. In a addition to bringing a new and improved shopping destination, the new facility will continue to employ the 60 workers who had been at the neighboring location, and it will become home to an additional 60 new employees. “We look forward to serving the community at our new Bethesda Giant store and continuing to build upon our reputation as a good corporate citizen in the area, ” Baird adds. Including the new supermarket, Giant now operates 189 stores.
