Lohmann to Build $5.7M Plant

ORANGE COUNTY, VA-Hebron, KY-based Lohmann Corp. has chosen to build its new 25,000-sf Lohmann Specialty Coatings plant in the 155-acre Thomas E. Lee Industrial Park. The company, whose parent organization is Germany’s Lohmann GmbH KG, plans to use the $5.7-million facility for manufacturing adhesive coatings and double-sided tapes. “We expect to begin construction in late December, and the building will be complete sometime in August 2003,” Lohmann’s Glenn Sering tells GlobeSt.com.

Located between the towns of Orange and Gordonsville, the industrial park sits is just off James Madison Highway in the state’s central Piedmont region, which is 15 miles outside of Charlottesville. State and local government authorities competed with their counterparts in Kentucky for the new facility, which will bring 30 jobs to the area. “This significant investment is a vote of confidence in Virginia’s future and the hardworking citizens of this region,” Gov. Mark R. Warner says in a statement announcing Lohmann’s decision. Warner signed off on a $115,000 Governor’s Opportunity Fund to help facilitate the development.
