Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Opens

AURORA, CO-The $12.2-million, 46,762-sf Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute opens at the new University of Colorado Fitzsimons Medical Complex. Billionaire Phil Anschutz funds the project with the Lions of Colorado and Wyoming.

AURORA, CO-The 46,762-sf Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute has opened at the new University of Colorado Fitzsimons Medical Complex in the former Army Hospital that is being redeveloped into a multi-billion educational, health care and bio-tech center. The $12.2-million institute is attached to the Anschutz Cancer Pavilion that was funded by Denver billionaire Phil Anschutz.

The Lions of Colorado and Wyoming raised $6 million over the past 10 years to help build the center.

RMLEI provides an education setting where medical students, residents and practicing ophthalmologists are trained in the newest advances in the area of eye disease and blindness. The doctors proivde clinical care to patients as well as to several local hospitals.

Treatment specialists include pediatrics, cornea, retina, glaucoma and general ophthalmology.
