Cardinal Health Building Estimated $8-Mil Distribution Center

ATLANTA-Cardinal Distribution, a division of Cardinal Health Inc. of Dublin, OH, is building an estimated $8-million, 120,000-sf facility in McDonough, about 30 miles south of Downtown. The regional distribution center will be the 26th national location for the $30-billion pharmaceutical supply company.

The facility will be built in Liberty Industrial Park and is expected to be completed in 2001. Some 100 employees will work in the center. Cardinal will contract with local trucking companies to distribute its pharmaceuticals and other products to drugstore chains in the metro area. Cardinal also provides products to hospitals, laboratories and medical practices.

Earlier this month, the company announced a $2.1-billion merger with Bindley Western Industries, Inc. of Indianapolis. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2001. Bindley supplies pharmaceutical and medical products to the Federal Government.
