OVERLAND PARK, KS-The number of places to grab a bite to eat has just gone up by two alongone of Overland Park’s busiest thoroughfares. Whole Foods Market and aBob Evans restaurant are slated to take the place of the old GlenwoodTheatre site at 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue.

Regency Park Shopping Center, the name of the new development, will alsoinclude other shops, containing 7,000 sf of space next to thegrocery and a 5,000 sf separate free-standing building.

Whole Foods Market will be a 40,000-sf building that will openin either the fall or winter of next year. The company was founded 20years ago in Austin, TX and has grown into a retailer with more than117 stores in 22 states and the District of Columbia. The companycarries local products as well as those from throughout the world. Itsupports organic farming.

This year, Fortune magazine honored Whole Foods Market as one of the”100 Best Companies to Work for in America,” with one of the reasonscited being that the CEO’s salary cannot exceed 10 times the amount ofthe average store worker.

The Bob Evans restaurant is family-style eatery that will seat up to 130people. It will be a 5,200 sf structure. The company, foundedin 1948, is based in Columbus, OH and has more than 440 restaurantsin 20 states.

The Knoth Co. is the owner and broker of North Regency Park ShoppingCenter.
