PORTLAND-One of the Northwest’s largest electrical contractors just got bigger. Christenson Electric said Tuesday it has acquired Philips Electric of Eugene.

Christenson, with its base of operations here in Portland and lots of work in Seattle and Orange County, CA, plans to continue using the Philips name and the company’s 60 employees to expand its presence in the Eugene area. Former owner Nathan Philips will be general manager of the new Eugene division.

Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed. Christenson spokesman Tom Wright tells GolbeSt. the acquisition is part of the now 770-person company’s overall plan to expand its presence in the Northwest. As part of that plan, the company opened an office in Seattle just six week ago. The company’s gross revenues topped $100 million last year, Wright says.
