Building Industry Internet Companies Merging

SAN FRANCISCO-Two companies providing Internet services to the building industry are merging. Bidcom Inc. and Cephren Inc. are becoming Citadon Inc., and will be headquartered in San Francisco, the two companies announced this week.

Bidcom has experience in business process management. Cephren’s focus is on collaborative commerce applications. The new company will work to allow clients to manage all of their information and processes across multiple projects. Combined, the new company will boast over 55,000 users across 1,200 projects worldwide.

The synergies between the two companies’ products, assets, operating expenses and target markets were such that “it made tremendous business sense for us to merge,” says Bidcom CEO Doug Sabella, who will become CEO of Citadon when the merger is complete. Meanwhile, Robert J. Majteles will serve as Chairman. Majiteles was formerly Cephren’s CEO. Current clients include Hines, Marriott, and Fluor Daniel.

Citadon’s product line will include ProjectNet, a collaboration and document management system; MarketNet, a collaborative commerce solution; and PrintNet, a system designed to manage and streamline the production of project-related print documents.
