Chip Maker Opens New HQ Facility

SOMERSET, NJ--Old headquarters will be used for manufacturing.

Emcore Corp., a fast-growing designer and maker of computer chips, has been occupying an 80,000-sf facility to house its headquarters and manufacturing operations here—until now. The company has just enlarged it quarters to 87,000 sf, converted the entire building to manufacturing use, and moved its headquarters operations to a new 40,000-sf building adjacent to the existing one. Altogether, Emcore now occupies 127,000 sf. The new headquarters facility is located at 145 Belmont Dr.; the original plant is at 394 Elizabeth Ave.

Emcore Corp. develops compound semiconductor wafers and devices, as well as the tools and processes to manufacture the chips. The company has almost 550 employees, 350 of whom are in New Jersey.
