Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Group Honors Chubb

NU Online News Service, Oct. 10, 10:41 a.m.EDT?An organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgenderand transsexual professionals has given a workplace award to theChubb Group of Insurance Companies.

The Outie award was given to the company on Oct. 2 inMinneapolis by the Out & Equal Workplace Advocates group at theOut & Equal Workplace Summit for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Transgender Professionals for "advancing a safe and equitableworkplace for LGBT professionals."

NCR Corp. was also given an Outie.

"We were inspired by the wonderful work that so many people aredoing in the world of business, medicine, academia and government."said Greg Moore, chairman of the Outie Awards Committee. "We had avery difficult job in deciding which nominees to pass onto ourjudges. But after much deliberation and review, the winners beganto emerge."

The Out & Equal Workplace Advocates group said it washonoring Warren, N.J.-based Chubb Group for providing "significantsupport to the company's Gay & Lesbian Employee Network (GLEN)by providing sponsorship and executive presence at the company'sfirst Gay & Lesbian Leadership Conference, held in conjunctionwith the 2002 Out & Equal Workplace Summit group meeting.

LGBT said Chubb had developed a communications program to informsenior leadership of the summit meeting, and to gain theircommitment to support their staff members' attendance.

Chubb's then chairman and chief executive officer, Dean O Hare,gave the keynote address at Chubb's internal conference. As aresult of the company Leadership Conference, six committees wereformed to drive initiatives forward. Those committees include:Education, Visibility, Legislation, Marketing, LGBT Consumer, EventSponsorship (external), and LGBT Event Planning (internal), Out& Equal said.
