A federal judge in Camden, N.J., has ruled unconstitutional the community notification provision of New Jersey’s Megan’s Law and has granted an injunction against its enforcement.

On Jan. 24, U.S. District Judge Joseph Irenas ruled that the current procedures for notifying the public about sex offenders in their communities do not sufficiently protect the offenders’ privacy interests. Paul P. v. Farmer, 97- 2919.
