Groups representing Florida’s working and single mothers are accusingtwo state agencies of failing to provide health insurance to familiesmoving from welfare to work.

As many as 175,000 children and adults have gone without medical caredespite being entitled to receive Medicaid benefits, contends a suitfiled Wednesday in federal court in Miami. The suit, filed by FloridaLegal Services and the Florida Justice Institute and which is seekingclass-action status, is against the two state agencies that administerthe state’s Medicaid program — the Department of Children and Familiesand the Agency for Health Care Administration.
