Denton Wilde Sapte has appointed a new head of real estate for its Middle East offices, with the hire of partner Paul Davies from Clifford Chance (CC).Davies has joined the UK law firm's Dubai office after almost a decade at CC, where he was a partner. He had worked in the firm's London and Dubai offices, building a practice focused on advising on leisure and residential development transactions in the Middle East.Prior to CC, Davies worked for legacy firm Fox & Gibbons before to its merger with Denton Hall in 1998.Davies will oversee the firm's real estate practice in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha offices and will work alongside construction partner David Courtney-Hatcher in Dubai.Recent real estate deals Dentons has been involved in include the firm's lead role on the $1.5bn (£960m) construction of the Atlantis resort on the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai where it is advising Kerzner Istithmar, a joint venture between hotel developer Kerzner International and Istithmar, an investment company indirectly owned by the Government of Dubai. The firm is also advising Starwood Hotels & Resorts on the proposed St Regis resort in Abu Dhabi. Commenting on the hire, Middle East managing partner Neil Cuthbert said: "Paul is first and foremost a property expert in the Emirates. He knows it frontwards and backwards and he felt that he could build a good practice here."
